People have so much greed and selfishness today that our world won’t get to see that new invention or that much needed cure for a debilitating disease. Instead, college students coming out of the top schools are going into Wall Street because they believe that is the path to becoming rich. People today think if it’s not helping me why do it if I’m not going to make a profit? Your grandpa probably told you about a guy named Jonas Salk. Salk invented the cure for Polio in 1955 which was a very big issue. There were 58,000 cases reported just that year. 3,145 people died and 21,269 were left with mild to disabling paralysis. That wasn’t the biggest thing Salk did though. It’s what he didn’t do that is so striking. Could you patent the sun?” In 1955 America had its vaccine. Jonas Salk could have asked for anything in the world as payment. He asked for nothing.
